Dialect Storytelling for Seniors

In the past, especially from the 1980s to 1990s, our seniors huddled around the radio and listened closely to radio channels for dialect storytelling, as part of their leisure activity. They usually had the practice of listening to one story each day and overtime, they grew fonder to dialect storytelling as they got to hear more of it.

During those days, those dialect storytellers were viewed as language masters or artists, possessing the ability to make text come alive. As time passed by with societal changes and development, this form of storytelling has turned into a sunset industry. We hope to bring the dialect storytelling back into the community and allow more of our seniors to get to experience and reignite their memories of dialect storytelling.
